Established more than 1900 years ago, now the town of Rousse is one of the biggest in Bulgaria. It is situated on the Danube river and is the north gate of Bulgaria to Central and Western Europe. In ancient times the city was a Roman fortress "Sexaginta Prista" (that means "The port of the sixty ships"). After that it was called Rustchuk.
